Cards to have in your wallet Jack Rutherford, AHSS PhD Student

As an AHSS student these cards can help you save money, access exciting places/events and make the most of being a student.

1. NUS card (from TOTUM). You get exclusive sales, free food, loads of discounts, 10% off your shop from Co-op and it can be used as proof of age/ID. No need to take your driving license or passport out with you. It’s also recognised internationally, so great for any trips abroad.

2. If you haven’t heard of the Student Art Pass then I highly recommend you take a look. It is £5 for a year and gets you massive discounts or even free entry to loads of galleries, exhibitions and museums. Most of the big names (the Tates, British, V&A etc) are covered, but it also has gems like the Garden Museum, Ely Stained Glass Museum and The Photographers' Gallery.

3. The 16-25 railcard. Trains tickets aren’t cheap, especially if you’ve travelled far from home to come to ARU. But, having this card (which can be digital now and live on your phone) is helpful at reducing the costs by a 1/3. Being savvy with the times of day that you travel can also reduce the costs even further. Making a trip home, a visit to London or exploring the local area much easier. Are you older than 25? No worries, there's also a card that covers you from 26 up to the age of 30.

Hopefully, these will help you save money, visit exciting places and get there for a little less as well.
