For today’s #ARUPlaces we rediscover Chelmsford, the birthplace of wireless. Be inspired and awaken your creative mind this summer with the Essex Summer of Art; understand the inspiration of surrounding landscapes through local artists and galleries.
Uncover the region’s history at the Chelmsford Museum and soak up the culture at one of its three theatres; Civic, Cramphorn and The Old Court. You’ll find architecture and stately homes aplenty plus at only 15 miles from the sea, there’s a whole coastline to explore.
As well as the acclaimed V Festival on the doorstep, you can also sit on the pitch with a picnic at The Essex County Cricket Ground and enjoy the On-Pitch Cinema or why not indulge in some local wine at New Hall Vineyards, 92 acres of vines as well as wine tasting in the cellar shop and an annual wine festival in September.
Visit Essex has lots more information about the wonders of Chelmsford and what’s on!
