TEAM ARU supporting: University Mental Health Day: Netball tournament

As part of University Mental Health Day next week, we are running a Free Mixed Netball Tournament for all ARU Students to help celebrate the positive impact that physical activity has on mental health. The session will run from 15:00-16:00 in Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre on Friday 4 March. All abilities are welcome.

According to Mind, physical activity can help with:

  • better sleep – by making you feel more tired at the end of the day
  • happier moods – physical activity releases feel-good hormones that make you feel better in yourself and give you more energy
  • managing stress, anxiety or intrusive and racing thoughts – doing something physical releases cortisol which helps us manage stress. Being physically active also gives your brain something to focus on and can be a positive coping strategy for difficult times.

If you would like to book onto the session, you can do so on the Helmore Gym App the session will be in ‘Campus Sport Bookings’ and is called ‘Free Netball Tournament’, or on the sports booking webpage.

If you have any issues booking on, please feel free to contact Matt Shore with any questions or queries.
