What is the award?
The Vice Chancellor's Student Leader Award has been created to recognise, celebrate and reward exceptional contributions to extra curricula activities. Students who partake in activities outside of their course benefit undoubtedly academically and socially, gain leadership skills, and are ultimately become more employable. Record your extracurricular activity and you could be one of only 6 exceptional students selected each year to receive the Vice Chancellor's Student Leader Award.
Who can apply?
The award is open to students on all levels of courses, from foundation degree to doctoral level. You can start working on your application from your 1st year but completed applications are only accepted from final year students, as long as you meet certain basic prerequisites.
What do I need to do?
To be considered for the Vice Chancellor's Student Leader Award you’ll need to take part in a variety of extracurricular activities during your time as a student at Anglia Ruskin. You’ll be allocated points for each activity and you must accumulate 90 points across 3 different activities. Find out which activities earn you points.
How do I apply?
As part of your application you’ll be required to submit either a written (no more than 500 words), or video application (no more than 2 minutes) to the panel.
Your application must include:
- The benefits I have brought to Anglia Ruskin and the wider community through my extra curricula activity
- The benefits to me in my time as a student from my extra curricula activity
- The benefits that I bring to my future employment from my extra curricula activity.
Between December and April you’ll need to attend a Vice Chancellor's Student Leader Award Workshop and log your activity using the Evidence Log that you can download here.
Taylor Hughes, Vice Chancellor's Student Leader Award Winner 2016, had this to say about the benefits of the award: “The award is a huge attention grabber on your CV. All you have to do is think about what you care about outside of studying and you’ll probably find you’ve done activities that count. For the effort it takes to apply, the reward was well worth it!”
Please note the application deadline is 12 noon on 5th May 2019.
